Executive Suite – Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is a moderately priced, lakeside hotel located between Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. It’s architecture and décor are inspired by the American Southwest and northern Mexico.

The hotel is named after Francisco Vasquez de Coronado, the Spanish explorer and conquistador that was the first European to explore North America’s Southwest. He is known for his discovery of the Grand Canyon and for introducing Europeans to the Native Peoples of the Southwest.

The main building of Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is called “El Centro”. It holds the lobby, the reception, the “Panchito’s Gifts and Sundries” gift shop (a reference to one of the protagonists of the 1944 animated musical film “The Three Caballeros”) and the hotel’s major restaurants.

The “Pepper Market” is a 420-seat a la carte food court.

The “Maya Grill” is a 230-seat upscale table-service restaurant where meats and seafood are grilled over an open wood-burning fire.

“Café Rix” is a quick service food area and “Rix Lounge” is a bar that regularly features live entertainment.

The guest rooms and suites are situated in three different themed areas. The “Casitas” represent cities like Santa Fé or Monterrey. The “Ranchos” are modeled after the rural regions of the American Southwest and northern Mexico. And the “Cabanas” call to mind Mexican beach resorts.

The hotel has five pools. It’s feature pool complex “Lost City of Cibola” is over 10.000 square feet, has a 123 foot long water slide and boasts the largest hot tub in Walt Disney World. It is adorned by a 46 foot, five story tall reproduction of a Mayan pyramid.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is the only WDW Moderate Resort Hotel that features a salon and a health club. The “Casa de Belleza” offers beauty and hair treatments for women and men. And “La Vida Health Club” has state-of-the-art fitness equipment, facials and massage therapies.

The hotel also features a playground, arcade, volleyball court, jogging trail, artificial beach area with hammocks and a marina where you can rent boats, surreys and fishing poles. And it has a convention center with 220.000 square foot of meeting space.
