Tony Baxter

Born: Saturday, February 1, 1947

Occupation:

  • Creative advisor to Walt Disney Imagineering.
  • Former senior vice president of creative development for Walt Disney Imagineering and creative executive for the Disneyland Resort in California.

Legacy:

  • Played a key role in the design and creation of some of Disney’s most beloved attractions such as “Big Thunder Mountain Railroad”, "Journey Into Imagination" (original version with 'The Dreamfinder'), “Star Tours”, “Splash Mountain” and “Indiana Jones Adventure”.
  • Supervised the creative development of Disneyland Paris.
  • Inspired and keeps on inspiring many by freely sharing his knowledge and experience.

Important projects:

  • Oversaw the remodeling of Disneyland’s Fantasyland (1983) and Tomorrowland (1998).
  • Brought back some classic Disney theme park attractions such as “Submarine Voyage” (Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage - 2007), “Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough” (2008), “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” (2009) and “Captain EO” (2010).
